Cardio Tennis is a new, fun group activity on a tennis court featuring drills to give players of all abilities an ultimate, high energy workout.

It includes a warm-up, cardio workout and cool down phases. If you are looking for a great new way to get in shape and to burn calories, why not try Cardio Tennis? If you want to have fun and improve both your fitness and your tennis then Cardio Tennis is for you. The main purpose of the session is to provide you with an enjoyable work out.

Benefits of Cardio Tennis . . . .

  • You consistently elevate your heart rate into your aerobic training zone
  • It is much more fun than working out on a machine in the gym
  • You get short cycles of high intensity workouts and periods of rest, almost like interval training, which burns more calories
  • It is a fun group activity where players of all abilities enjoy tennis together
  • Even though you are playing tennis, the focus is primarily on getting a great workout
  • You naturally improve your game because you hit so many balls and repeat various shots

Music is played during the session to help create a high energy atmosphere and add motivation. Participants are advised to wear heart rate monitors so they can see if they are working hard enough (or too hard). The heart rate monitors also provide an accurate summary of the session including how many calories have been burned.

Cardio Tennis with Christine Sprowell will be returning in Summer 2012 on Monday evenings from mid April onwards. More information, including how to book your place will follow in due course.
